We are incredibly
grateful to Shri Amit Shah, Hon'ble Union Home Minister, Government of India.
The Hon'ble Minister has directed the authorities
to seek action on our plea regarding police inaction in matters concerning
gross violation of the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, by the Municipal
Corporations and Animal Welfare Organizations across India.
This very nexus has killed and continues to kill
the mission of a rabies free India and jeopardizes public health, not to forget
the music that stray dogs have to face.
We think of all those individuals who muster the
courage to go to the police to report the ABC Rules, 2023 violations and are
only met with police inaction because the ABC programme is misunderstood as an
animal welfare scheme. Rather, it is a public health programme aimed at human
welfare, more of a one health concept.
We are working towards a long sought after change,
one step at a time.
